Team Ponniyin Selvan unveiled the lyric video of the song Ratchasa Maamaney a few weeks ago, featuring Karthi, Trisha and Sobhita Dhulipala. The melody composed by AR Rahman, penned by Kabilan and lent voice by Shreya Ghoshal, Palakkad Sreeram and Mahesh Vinayakram, became an instant hit among movie buffs.

The makers have now released the BTS video of the song. The two-minute video has dance choreographer Brinda composing dance moves and giving instructions to Sobhita and other artists on location. The veteran choreographer, Karthi and art director Thota Tharani brief about the experience of working on the song.

A visibly excited Karthi said that the song is about the Princess attending Krishna Jayanti celebrations. According to him, the biggest challenge for the crew was to ensure that the set, costume and ambience transport viewers to the 10th century.

He said, "It was fun shooting for the song. There were many children who danced to the song. We had to use rope for a few moves and Mani sir was particular that three different types of dance sequences should be picturized in a single shot. I think Ratchasa Maamaney will henceforth be the go-to song for school children to dance for various events."

Karthi added that he was in awe of the manner in which Mani pulled off the song sequence and conveyed the same to him after the shooting was wrapped up.

Brinda revealed that Bharatanatyam and Kathak have been incorporated in the song and that several rounds of rehearsals were performed in advance to ensure that artistes can easily pull off the sequences on location. All praise for Brinda, Thota Tharani said that the song has come out well with regard to dance choreography and visuals.
