Though Ajith-starrer Valimai, which released on February 24, created a few day one records at the box office, the movie had opened to mixed reviews among critics and the viewers. The action sequences choreographed by Dhilip Subbarayan and Nirav Shah's cinematography, apart from performances of lead actors received praise from the audience.

However, the emotional scenes were considered to be the main drawback of the film, the run time of which is close to 180 minutes. Many opined that the movie could have been a full-fledged slick action thriller instead of relying on forced emotional scenes. Though the emotional scenes were incorporated to help the message the movie conveys, it hardly left any impact.

Looks like the makers took the feedback seriously and have swung into action. They have decided to trim 14 minutes from the film. The new version of Valimai, which is expected to be around 165 minutes, will be screened in theatres everywhere from February 26.

Though various figures regarding the movie's first day collection Tamil Nadu have been doing the rounds, it is said that the film ended up as the second highest grosser among day one collection for movies in the state. Valimai is Ajith's career-best opening till date as far as the first day numbers are considered.

Fans of the star and others are eagerly waiting to know which are the scenes that makers have decided to chop off from the movie. Movie lovers have been praising the swift decision of the team on social media.

For now, fans are keeping their fingers crossed as they hope the trimmed version will attract more audience in the coming days. Valimai, which is Ajith's release after more than two years, had released in a record number of theatres in Tamil Nadu.
