The film leads, Soori, Anjali and Nivin Pauly, along with director Ram, spoke at the red carpet of International Film Festival Rotterdam
We had earlier reported that upcoming Tamil film Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai will premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). Following its premiere, the film garnered a positive response and is soon set to release in theatres in India. The film team also opened up about their response to the appreciation they received and expressed their excitement about having attended the festival for the first time.
Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai stars Nivin Pauly, Anjali and Soori in the lead roles. The film is directed by filmmaker Ram, who has earlier made films like Kattradhu Thamizh, Thanga Meengal, Taramani and Peranbu. It is backed by Suresh Kamatchi
The film’s three leads—the director and producer—were present. Speaking on the red carpet of the festival, Soori said, “Our film Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai has been selected to premiere at this international film festival. It is the first time I am coming to the Rotterdam festival and I thank my director Ram and producer Suresh Kamatchi for it. We got a positive response from the people here at the festival and I came to know how much they respect our films.”
Nivin and Anjali also echoed Soori’s thoughts, expressed their gratitude to the team and mentioned that the film will soon be released in theatres. Director Ram added, “This festival has been running for years and our film Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai just premiered. Just because it came to the festival, don’t mistake it for a serious film. It is a commercial film. We have Nivin Pauly, Soori, and Anjali, along with a rat. This film will be released after March in our country.
It is to be noted that the upcoming film marks Nivin’s return to Tamil cinema after six years since the release of Premam. Suresh Kamatchi is producing Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai under the banner of V House Productions, and Yuvan Shankar has composed the score.
The makers had earlier released a glimpse of the film, hinting that it will traverse across multiple generations of birth, with Nivin playing a mysterious man claiming to be 8000 years old. His character seems to have fallen in love with the same woman over these years, reaffirming his unwavering emotion of love. The teaser has further intrigued the audience with what the makers have to offer. The film has yet to get a release date in India.
