The film festival hosted the premiere of Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly's Tamil film Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai on January 30.
Following its premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), Ram's Nivin Pauly starrer Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai was greeted with overwhelming praise and excellent reviews from film enthusiasts. At the Matarun film festival, the movie got positive reviews from audience around the world.
Anne Wabeke, Head of Communications of IFFR called Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai “a true gem of Tamil cinema” that explores love and survival through “a chance encounter on a moving night train between a 32-year-old average Joe and an 8000-year-old-immortal”. “It's moving, funny and exciting- featuring also the most adorable rat- a true gem of Tamil cinema that I cannot wait to experience on the big screen this week!” she said.

Suresh Kamatchi has produced Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai under the banner of V House Productions. Yuvan Shankar has composed the soundtracks of the film. For the movie, N K Ekhambram headed the camera work.
Beginning with Nivin's mysterious persona offering a simple definition of love—people may have a thousand reasons to part ways, but there can only be one reason to hold on to each other, which is love—the teaser presents an image of enduring affection.
Nivin appears as 8,000 years old, who has been in constant love with a woman. He says he fell in love with her at first sight and that she was a queen when they first met. This implies that his unwavering love for her has not altered even though she has led different lives over the years.
