Backed by actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan, the Thaai Kizhavi trailer gives a glimpse of the powerful titular character and the chaos that follows as her adult children seek to lay their hands on her wealth.
What does Thaai Kizhavi trailer show
As promised, actor Sivakarthikeyan dropped the trailer of Thaai Kizhavi at 5pm on February 23, 2026. The trailer begins with Radikaa Sarathkumar’s character Pavunuthaayi, clearly the matriarch of the house, engaged in a verbal spat with her adult sons. The sons sought to know if it wasn’t enough for her to live six months with each of her sons and why is she holding on to her wealth, without partitioning the property. But the woman asserts that she alone would enjoy the wealth till the day she dies.
But the trailer then cuts to show the elderly woman bedridden and her close relatives by her death bed. But they are more keen to know the meaning of her hand gesture as they set out to locate the wealth. They even seek the help of the doctors, who find their antics insane.
In a humorous scene at the hospital, the staff asks if the patient has the Kalaignar Health Insurance scheme or the Amma Health Insurance scheme, spelling out the welfare schemes of opposing parties in Tamil Nadu. But one of the relatives replied that all of the family members follow different political ideologies, including actor-politician Vijay’s TVK. But as the 2.50-minute trailer comes to an end, Thaai Kizhavi is described as the Godmother and not the typical meaning of an old woman.
Overall, the Thaai Kizhavi trailer promises a dark comedy film with the mad hunt for money, even while questioning whether the family values can stand up to the might of wealth.
