Superstar Rajinikanth reached Tirunelveli for the next leg of shoot for his film with director TJ Gnanavel. The shoot for the film, which is tentatively being referred to as Thalaivar 170, began earlier this month with a puja ceremony in Trivandrum.
A sea of people welcome the Superstar
In a video that is doing the rounds, the Superstar is seen arriving in the district in his car. The car stops for a brief moment and Rajinikanth is seen waving at his fans who have swarmed the venue to catch a glimpse of the Superstar. As the shouts of Thalaivar buzz in the air, the actor leaves the venue after a while.
The buzz is that the actor plays a retired police officer who takes on the corrupt system. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited.
Trivandrum schedule wrapped
The shoot began in Trivandrum after a puja ceremony earlier this month. The ceremony was attended by the film's leading lady Manju Warrier along with the director TJ Gnanavel and the rest of the team. It is said that some crucial portions of the film are set in Kerala and the team had also announced a casting call for actors from the district, who spoke the dialect.
The star-studded cast
The team has pulled a casting coup of sorts and has roped in Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayam and Ritika Singh to name a few. Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander. Thalaivar 170 is bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
Rajinikanth teams up with Lokesh Kanagaraj
After this project, the Superstar is all set to join forces with the man of the moment, Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is awaiting the release of Leo. The director has said that his project with Rajinikanth would be an experimental one. The pre-production work for the film is already underway.
