Even as Vijay’s much-anticipated movie Jana Nayagan was caught up in censor issues and Sivakarthikeyan-led Parasakthi did not quite live up to its expectations, Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil emerged as the surprise hit in the Pongal 2026 race at the box office. Starring actor Jiiva and helmed by Nithish Sahadev, the Tamil film is set for its digital debut on Netflix this week. Apart from Tamil, the comedy drama will be available to stream in Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada.

The 2026 Tamil film Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil is directed by Malayalam filmmaker Nithish Sahadev, who is known for the hit comedy movie Falimy. The actor-director collaboration, which came as a surprise for many, turned out to be a fruitful venture at the cinemas. After a stellar run at the box office, Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil or TTT is set for its digital release on Netflix on February 12, 2026. The Jiiva film will be available in all four south Indian languages, including Malayalam and Telugu. However, currently, there is no update on when and where the Hindi version of Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil would be released.

Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil released in theatres on January 15, a day after actor Karthi’s movie Vaa Vaathiyaar hit the screens on January 14. Vaa Vaathiyaar had lacklustre box office run and made its digital debut within two weeks of its release. The Karthi movie is streaming on Amazon Prime Video and OTTplay Premium subscribers can also watch the film with a top-up option.

Jiiva stars in the lead role of the local panchayat leader Jeevaratnam, who has taken up the task of conducting a wedding. However, the marriage celebrations take a hit when a death happens in the nearby house with the funeral scheduled for the same day as the wedding. Other cast members include Thambi Ramaiya, Ilavarasu, Prathana Nathan, Jensen Dhivakar, Jaiwanth, and Sarjin Kumar.
