After keeping fans guessing for a long time, the makers of Thalapathy 66 (tentative title) announced on Tuesday that Rashmika Mandanna has been roped in to play the female lead in it. The Vijay-starrer is director Vamshi Paidipally's second bilingual movie after Thozha (Oopiri In Telugu). Fans of Vijay are curious to know if the team will choose the same title for both Tamil and Telugu versions.
The project was officially launched today morning in a Chennai-based studio with a ceremony attended by Vijay, Rashmika, Vamshi and producer Dil Raju who is bankrolling the film under Sri Venkateswara Creations.
It is heard that the shooting will begin with a song sequence. Thaman was brought on board long ago by the team to compose music and they had officially announced it yesterday. The musician, who is working for a Vijay-starrer for the first time, had expressed excitement on his social media page after the official announcement was made.
More details regarding the movie's cast and crew is expected to be updated in the coming days. Thalapathy 66 is likely to be released in theatres next year. Fans hope that the film would hit the screens on Pongal 2023, if everything goes as per the plan.
Meanwhile, fans of the star are excited about Beast which is releasing in a huge number of theatres across the world on April 13. The online booking for regular shows for the first few days has started in Tamil Nadu and other places, and they couldn't be happier.
Interestingly, Vijay's last outing, Master, too, was launched a few days before the release of Bigil in 2019 with an official ceremony. Thalapathy 66 is billed as a family drama which is high on emotion and action scenes.
