If the buzz is to be believed, actor Prashanth, one of the leading actors of the '90s is all set to play a crucial role in Thalapathy 68. The pre-production work for the film is underway and a number of names are being tossed around for the star cast of the project. Speculations are also that the team will be approaching one of the Bollywood stars to play a cameo.
Prashanth and Vijay's maiden collaboration, if the actor gets on board
Prashanth was one of the leading actors of the '90s and was part of the some of the biggest hits of the decade, including Vaigasi Poranthachu, Perumthachan, Sembaruthi, Aanazhagan, Jeans, Kannethirey Thondrinaal, Kaadhal kavithai, Parthen Rasithen and Winner to name a few. The actor, however, never shared screen space with Vijay. If he indeed gets on board, the film will mark their maiden venture. According to an ETimes report, the actor has been approached for a crucial role.
It is to be noted that Vijay had teamed with Suriya and Ajith during the early days of his career. Prashanth, on the other hand, had worked with Ajith in the film, Kalloori Vaasal. Both Vijay and Prashanth were on the top of their game during the decade. Hence, their collaboration is one to look forward to.
Thalapathy 68 team in Los Angeles
In the meantime, the team of Thalapathy 68 is currently at a leading Hollywood Studio in Los Angeles for the pre-production work of the film. Since Vijay is said to be playing a dual role in the film, they are exploring the deaging technology at a top VFX studio, which also worked on Kamal Haasan's look in Shankar's Indian 2.The film's director Venkat Prabhu had dropped pictures from the studio and captioned it, "Welcome to the future!!! #Thalapathy68 @actorvijay @archanakalpathi (sic)."

The film marks the maiden venture of Venkat Prabhu with Vijay and will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Other names being tossed around for the project are that of Simran, Prabhu Deva, Priyanka Mohan to name a few. An official confirmation on the same is awaited. The film is bankrolled by AGS Entertainment.
