Thandel is Naga Chaitanya's latest film, which has taken a solid start at the box office. After delivering his career-best opening weekend numbers, the romantic drama passed the Monday test with flying colors, earning ₹4.5 crore worldwide—an impressive feat.
The film’s Day 5 collections have also surprised the trade, bringing in over ₹4 crore, reflecting its strong global appeal. A special success celebration was held yesterday, February 11, where Chaitanya and his newlywed wife, Sobhita Dhulipala, made headlines with their appearance.
So far, Thandel has amassed ₹47 crore net, inching closer to the ₹100 crore gross mark—the highest for Naga Chaitanya to date. In the U.S., the film has grossed over $700K and is set to cross the $1 million milestone this weekend.
The makers are ramping up promotions, with Sai Pallavi—who was absent at the recent event—set to feature in solo interviews. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Thandel is based on a real-life incident in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. Chaitanya plays a fisherman who gets trapped in Pakistani waters and is arrested. The story follows his journey back home and his reunion with his love.
DSP’s music has been a massive hit, adding to the film’s success. Thandel has brought Naga Chaitanya back into the spotlight after a series of setbacks. Netflix has acquired the digital rights and will stream the film in the second week of March 2025. Stay tuned for more updates!
