Thangalaan has been one of the long-awaited Tamil films and fans of Chiyan Vikram have been desperate to know the release date of the film. Now, the makers of the film have dropped the release date updates on their official social media pages. The new poster revealed that the period action film will hit the theatres in April 2024.
Along with the release date announcement, a new poster was released, featuring Vikram’s ‘tribal’ character who is seen kneeling and holding a stick in a deserted land. Check out the new poster from the film:
Earlier, the film was scheduled to be released on January 26. But the film was postponed after it hit a roadblock, and now a new release date has been announced. Interestingly, the Vikram-starrer secured a spot on IMDb’s list of most-anticipated films.
With the teaser and numerous posters that had been released, it is safe to say that the Vikram-starrer is here to leave a mark in the hearts of cinema lovers as the film promises to enthrall us with powerful performances and impeccable direction of Pa Ranjith!

The film appears to narrate the freedom struggle against the British Raj with an untold story. Nevertheless, the story’s setting exudes an air of surrealism and mythology. And although it narrates a familiar tale of the oppressed rising against their oppressors, the movie’s visual and narrative style add a twist to the storyline.

In an earlier X post, producer and CEO of Studio Green, Dhananjeyan, stated confidently that the Vikram-starrer is sure to make a huge impact. “I know the story and have even watched the making. Cast and crew of Thangalaan
The upcoming period drama boasts of a stellar star cast featuring Parvathy, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathi, Muthukumar, Hari Krishnan, Preethi and Arjun Prabhakaran in key roles. Set against the backdrop of the Kolar Gold Fields during the British era, the film is bankrolled on a massive scale by KE Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green with Ranjith’s Neelam Productions overseeing production on a first-copy basis. The movie has music scored by GV Prakash Kumar.
