The talented filmmaker, who is celebrating his 41st birthday today, is now busy with the final post-production works of his next directorial venture, Thangalaan.
The period drama, which stars Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role, has garnered the attention of cine-goers with its promising teaser, which was released a few weeks ago. On the special occasion of Pa Ranjith’s birthday, the makers of Thangalaan dropped a special making video of the film to wish their captain.

Studio Green, the production banner that is bankrolling Thangalaan, took to their official social media handles and dropped a special making video, along with a sweet note. “Happy birthday to the filmmaker who weaves art, power and social justice into every frame. Many happy returns our dearest Pa Ranjith sir. Your artistry is truly a gift to cinema. Wishes from TeamThangalaan,” reads the social media post of the production banner.
From the making video, it is evident that Pa Ranjith is one of those filmmakers who truly believes in being a part of every aspect of film production. The talented director is seen handling every single piece of work in the sets, from giving instructions to his actors to handling their make-up and even joining the production team for set work. The video also hints that Ranjith and his crew have created a never-seen-before cinematic experience for Tamil cinema audiences.
Thangalaan's cast and crew
The project, which features Chiyaan Vikram as the central character, is touted to be a period thriller that is set in the pre-Independence era. The National Award-winner plays the role of a tribal leader who protests against the British government, which tries to seize their land for gold mining, with the help of his people.
The project features a stellar star cast, including Parvathy Thiruvothu, Pasupathy, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, Harikrishnan Anbudurai, and others in the other pivotal roles. GV Prakash Kumar composed the songs and the original score. Kishor Kumar is the director of photography. Selva RK handles the editing. Thangalaan is jointly produced by Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions and Studio Green.
