Pa Ranjith's Thangalaan, starring Chiyaan Vikram in the lead, was in the news recently when Netflix bagged its digital rights. The movie, being bankrolled by Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green, is based on the life of Tamil people who worked in Kolar Gold Field during the pre-independence period in India.

Mollywood actress Parvathy plays the female lead in the film. She took to her Instagram page to post a picture featuring her along with Vikram and Ranjith. The photo has been going viral on social media ever since she posted it.

Fans are eager to watch both Vikram and Parvathy on screen together for the first time. The film also marks her return to Kollywood; though she was last seen in Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum, which dropped on SonyLIV last year, the film was completed a few years ago.

Her last notable appearance in a Tamil movie was in Kamal Haasan's Uttama Villain which was released in 2015. She had also reprised her much-celebrated role from Bangalore Days in its Tamil version, titled Bangalore Naatkal, in 2016. Malavika Mohanan and Pasupathy are other actors who essay key roles in Thangalaan.

GV Prakash is scoring music for the first time for a Pa Ranjith directorial, while Kishore Kumar and Selva RK are handling its cinematography and editing respectively. The title and first look poster of the project was unveiled a while ago. The movie is expected to hit the screens in 2023.

Vikram had three releases this year - Mahaan, Cobra and Ponniyin Selvan 1 - while Ranjith had the critically acclaimed Natchathiram Nagargiradhu which was released in theatres along with the former's Cobra.
