The makers of Thankamani have dropped an update on the movie's digital debut. It has been confirmed that the digital streaming rights of the action drama have been bagged by Saina Play. However, an exact OTT release date has not been disclosed yet.

Thankamani is anticipated to be released in the first or second week of April, following the current trend of releasing films on OTT after a 40-day theatrical run.

The main character in this gripping revenge thriller is portrayed by actor Dileep. Udal-fame Ratheesh Raghunandan is the director of Thankamani. The female leads are Pranitha Subhash and Neeta Pillai.

The movie's delayed theatrical release upset the actor's fan base. The teaser revealed an interesting character arc for Dileep. Nevertheless, the public's opinions of Thankamani were divided, and it did not provide Dileep with the comeback he needed in Malayalam cinema.

Even though they had a strong supporting cast, they were merely used as plot devices and received little screen time. Thankamani has its own set of overused elements, which makes it even more monotonous. The movie seems to have focused more on heartbreaking romance in the hopes that it would resonate with audiences. But it turns out to be a common plot device rather than having an impact on the viewer.

Plot of Thankamani

IPS officer Arpitha Nath is searching for a serial killer who has brutally killed politicians and former law enforcement officials. However, the more Arpitha looks into the case, the more she discovers about the spiteful killer, who is a victim of a harrowing 1986 incident.

All about the Dileep-starrer action drama

The film is based on the actual events that took place in Thankamani, a village in the Kamakshi gram panchayat of Idukki, in October 1986. A bus service dispute gave rise to gunfire and a police baton charge at the end of these events. The supporting cast includes Ajmal Ameer, Siddique, Sudev Nair, Manoj K Jayan, Kottayam Ramesh, Santosh Keezhatoor, Thomman Manguva, Ramya Panicker, Sampath Ram, and John Vijay.
