Sonali Bendre is all set to make her comeback to acting after almost a decade, with the upcoming show The Broken News. The web series also marks her OTT debut. The actress recently opened up about how far she has come in her career, and revealed how she had let an opportunity slip through her fingers while working with Aamir Khan on Sarfarosh.

In conversation with Film Companion, the actress talked about how much she started to enjoy her acting career at the present, saying that she was certain that she wanted to keep working now. Bendre said that she no longer considered herself as an ‘accidental’ actor, as she was choosing to do it at the moment. As a result, she believes that she does not have an excuse now if she fails to get it right.

The actress had shared the screen with Aamir Khan in the 1999 film, Sarfarosh, directed by John Matthew Matthan. Recalling her moments working on the film, Bendre said that although she had enjoyed the experience, she had failed to make a learning experience out of it. “I missed the opportunity to consciously learn from him(Khan) during Sarfarosh," she said.

Bendre went on to talk about how OTT platforms had given her a chance for a ‘second innings’. She said that nowadays, the ‘chalta hai’ attitude people had could not last in the industry anymore, and called the change one of the ‘best things to happen’.

In addition to Bendre, the upcoming series also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Taaruk Raina, Indraneil Sengupta, Faisal Rashid, Kiran Kumar, Aakash Khurana and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya. The show was helmed by Vinay Waikul.

The Broken News will premiere on ZEE5 on June 10, 2022. ‘
