Recently Variety has arranged their special Actor To Actors chat interviews, where Hollywood A-listers come face-to-face, and talk about their works, personal lives, their collaborations, their experiences, and more. Previously we have discussed about the much-awaited Barbenheimer stars – Cillian Murphy and Margot Robbie finally getting candid about their blockbusters of 2023, then later about Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo getting candid about their Marvel superhero roles – Iron Man and Hulk.
Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt's first collaboration
This initiative of Variety is really pretty unique, and makes us know more about our favourite Hollywood stars. Today we will share about Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt’s face-to-face chat. The duo first collaborated in The Devil Wears Prada, along with Meryl Streep in 2006. The contrasting performances of Emily Blunt as the detached and commanding lead assistant and Anne Hathaway as the endearingly clumsy junior assistant, Andrea, fueled the success of this workplace comedy. The film grossed $325 million at the box office, solidifying both actresses as major stars.
Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt's working with Christopher Nolan
Now coming to Christopher Nolan's films. The director, who is widely known for giving exceptional sci-fi films, created history this year with his first historical drama Oppenheimer, which became the third highest grosser of 2023. As it's known to all, Anne Hathaway worked with Nolan in The Dark Knight Rises in 2012 and in Interstellar in 2014. On the other hand, Emily Blunt has worked for the first time with Nolan in Oppenheimer.
Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt reminisced about their past works and had a good chat. Hathaway praised Blunt for her outstanding performance. She said that when she first worked in 2006, she knew Blunt is an excellent movie star, “I was hearing that your name came up, and they said, ‘It’s this amazing girl out of England and she’s so funny.’ And I remember walking into the room and turning and meeting you. In my head, instant thought, I was like, ‘What a movie star!’.”
Emily's perception about Nolan
While talking about Nolan, Emily jokingly shared that she can immediately tell if Nolan is happy with the take or not, because his hair starts to dance. Truly, it's something unique! But she also shared that Christopher never tells that he is happy with the shot because he's very English.
Anne's experience with Nolan
Anne shared that when she started filming The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher told her, “I just want you to know, this shot has lived in my head for many years. I’m going to be very specific about it. I’m going to make you do it a lot, but it’s not actually you. It’s just because I have it in my head a certain way.”
