Darshan Thoogudeepa’s The Devil is releasing in theatres on December 11 amid speculation that the actor will be seen in multiple shades

The trailer of Darshan Thoogudeepa’s next release is still a couple of days away and until then, there’s really no telling what director Prakash Veer has got in store this time around. What has been doing the rounds for a while, though, is that Darshan is playing more than 1 character in the film, especially after a look of him with a wig, and in prison stripes came out. Speaking at the first media briefing of the film, Prakash confirmed that Darshan has “multiple shades” in the film, but just how many will be revealed when the film releases on December 11.

The filmmaker was profusely apologetic about the delay in holding a media briefing, stating that he was hopeful of Darshan being around to handle the promotions, but with that unlikely now, they had the event on December 2, with a little over a week to go for the release. Prakash added that The Devil was not written for Darshan, but that the actor was the first he told the basic story line to.
“Darshan liked it and it was only after he said he was interested to do it that I sat with my team and developed it further,” said Prakash, who has produced the film as well. The film pairs Darshan with Rachana Rai, while Achyuth Kumar, Sharmiela Mandre, Mahesh Manjrekar, Chandu B Gowda, Vinay Gowda, among others are also a part of the cast. Music is by Ajaneesh Loknath, with the soundtrack, reportedly, including 5 songs, 3 of which have been released. There are rumours that the team may reveal one more before the release of the film.
The Devil was earlier announced as a December 12 release, but has been advanced by a day in keeping with fan demands. Prakash reiterated that the aim is to give The Devil a release as wide as possible, targeting at least 350-400 screens in the state. This will likely increase closer to the release date and depending on the performance of the big-ticket releases of December 5.
