Within two months of its theatrical release, The First Omen is already making its way to OTT. Yes, the supernatural horror film will be out on Disney+ Hotstar on May 30, 2024. Arkasha Stevenson directed the film, while Smith, Thomas, and Tim co-wrote the screenplay, which is based on a story by Ben Jacoby. This film serves as a prequel to the 1976 original and is the sixth installment in the Omen franchise. Bill Nighy, Sônia Braga, Ralph Ineson, Tawfeek Barhom, and Nell Tiger Free star in the flick.

On April 5, 2024, theatres worldwide started screening The First Omen. Critically acclaimed and commercially successful, the film has made $53 million globally.

Comparison with Immaculate

Meanwhile, it's interesting to note that people have referred to The First Omen and Immaculate as twin films because of their simultaneous release, shared Italian locale, and shared plot.

Given its OTT release, it's safe to assume that The First Omen is still red. According to reports in ScreenRant, the break-even figure, excluding marketing expenses, was probably $60 million, given its stated $30 million production expenditure. Although it received the sole Fresh Score for an Omen film since the 1976 original, it fell short of expectations. Immaculate, which had its premiere two weeks earlier and had a very similar premise—an American novitiate transfers to an Italian convent and becomes pregnant—may have played a significant role, among other things.

If you are a horror film fan, you can wait for another week to catch it up on Disney+ Hotstar.
