Dheekshith Shetty was definitely one of the biggest success stories for Telugu cinema in 2023. After his debut with Mugguru Monagallu and garnering critical acclaim for his performance in SonyLIV’s Meet Cute, the budding actor proved his worth with a meaty role in the super hit Dasara this year. He had recently signed an adventure film with debutant Prem Chand Kilaru as well.
That’s not all; he has now landed another biggie. He has come on board to play a pivotal character in The Girlifriend, actor-director Rahul Ravindran’s third directorial effort, headlined by Rashmika Mandanna. Commemorating his birthday, a special teaser of Dheekshith’s character, introducing him as ‘The Boyfriend', was shared by the makers today.
Rahul Ravindran, who penned a note for Dheekshith, wrote, “It’s our boy @Dheekshiths‘s birthday:) He is such a talented actor and am very deeply happy that we got him for our film. Here’s a glimpse presenting Dheekshith Shetty as The Boyfriend of #TheGirlfriend.” In the promo. Dheekshith is introduced as Vikram, Rashmika’s on-screen boyfriend in the film and a college heartthrob.
The glimpse also showcases his fury as a group of friends try to control him in the middle of a confrontation. Given his Kannada roots and also acknowledging it as a Telugu film, the Bellary backdrop to his character is smartly woven into the story. The actor has joined the shoot of the film and Rahul Ravindran shares he’s ‘killing it’ already.
The Girlfriend has music by Hesham Abdul Wahab, with Krishnan Vasant cranking the camera. Chota K Prasad is the editor of the film. Meanwhile, Visramm Film Fraternity, the producers of his untitled project with Prem Chand, wished the actor with a new poster, confirming that the title, first look and details behind the film would be out soon.
