The Great Indian Kapil Show 4 recently unveiled the second episode of the new season, and the special guests for this week were the World Cup-winning Indian women’s cricket team. Except for Smriti Mandhana, the entire team was featured in the episode. Fans were thrilled to see a candid side of cricketors Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, Harleen Deol, Radha Yadav, and Pratika Rawal as they shared captivating backstories, along with their Head Coach Amol Mazumdar.

Head coach’s Sachin story

Kapil Sharma gave a warm welcome to the Head Coach Amol Mazumdar, and congratulated him for the big achievement. During a candid conversation, Sidhu Paji revealed that Amol was quite hardworking since the initial days and was popular by the nickname ‘Junior Sachin’ for his exceptional talent. It was also highlighted that Amol joined the team in 2023 and in just 2 years framed it effortlessly.

Biggest Foodie and diet story

When Archana Puran Singh asked the cricket team to say who is the biggest foodie among them all, everyone echoed Smriti’s name. Archana then added and asked if they follow a special diet, and the team revealed that they follow a diet planned by their trainer, Harsha. Harleen quipped and revealed that the coaching staff became friends with the food staff and secretly ordered sweets like Gulab Jamun. She further added that the night they had won the cup, the team ate everything. “Mein especially gayi unke aage, jo hamare coach the, coke aese kholi and pee (I went to the coach and then gulped it down).”

Harman’s idol

Navjot Singh Sidhu asked Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet about her role model, and she revealed that Sehwag is the one she idolises. “I idolised Sehwag as a child. I was really crazy for Sehwag. I dreamed of meeting him one day. I did have his poster of him.”

Shefali’s backstory with alias Sahil

During a conversation, host and comedian Kapil Sharma asked Shefali to unravel the backstory behind the alias of Sahil. Shefali revealed that she used her brother’s name, Sahil. “My brother was supposed to go play a tournament, but he fell sick. Dad was about to call the coach to let him know he couldn’t play. I said, ‘Dad, please stop, just hang up,’ I then said that I’ll take his place and it will be a good practice. I wore my brother’s jersey to the game. I played the tournament and was named Player of the Series,” Shefali narrated the sweet backstory.

Family’s hearty moments

The cricket team also shared some heartwarming stories about their family’s constant support throughout their journey. Harleen is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining cricketers and was a pure bliss of the episode. She narrated a funny incident in which her father mistakenly shared a crazy status about farting. She recalled another incident with her mother during their Australian match. “There was a series of three matches in Australia, and we all lost three. I was injured before that and that was my comeback series after recovery. Mom went to her office and someone asked how the team doing. Mom was wondering what to say to them since we had lost three matches. So Mom said, ‘Excellent, they finished as the runner-up.’”

Sunil Grover and Kiku Sharda’s fun

The episode also featured Sunil Grover as Bansuri and Kiku Sharda as Filmy Ma as they engaged in many funny conversations with their signature humour and style.
