The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case trailer is here, and like the name suggests, it takes you back in time when the former PM was assassinated. Nagesh Kukunoor has taken on the director's role for the series, which would address the sensitive issue. Watch the trailer here...
Like the name itself suggests, The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case will explore former Indian PM Rajiv Gandhi's assassination. The series looks at the various factors involved in the assassination. The trailer begins with a warning, thus hinting that there was a death threat that was ignored. Thereafter, we are left with clues that hint at much more than what meets the eye. There are hints at someone else working closely with the suicide bomber, and the Indian agency hopes to trace the very man down. Of course, even if inspired by true events, the series has taken artistic liberties in telling the story and thus, it is not all factually and historically correct.

Rajiv Gandhi was tragically killed in a suicide bombing during his rally in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, held on May 21, 1991. 14 civilians also lost their lives in the attack. The suicide bomber was pronounced to be from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). They took responsibility and called it revenge for Rajiv Gandhi sending the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) to Sri Lanka, which resulted in civilian casualties, apart from the internal battles between the LTTE and the IPKF.
