The film, which stars Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty in lead roles, had earned Rs 200 crore at the box office recently

The Kashmir Files recently made its foray into the Rs 200 crore club. The Vivek Agnihotri directorial has been making headlines ever since its release on March 11, and has been hailed by a number of popular stars such as Akshay Kuamr,Yami Gautam, Aamir Khan and more. The director had also talked about his intention to make a web series based on the film’s subject matter, and recently revealed that the project has been making headway.
In conversation with TOI, Agnihotri said that he had finished shooting most of the parts of the series as they already had the material for the same ready with them. Now what was left was putting it all together. Agnihotri also added that they were also on the lookout for funding for the project.
The filmmaker also talked about the number of political discussions the film generated, and what he believed to be the reasons behind it. Referring to it as a ‘political film’, Agnihotri said The Kashmir Files was one of the most complex and sensitive films based on a political issue to come out recently. He also mentioned that politicians seemed to be ‘rattled’ because of the subject matter of the film. “There has been a lie being told for 32 years. Now that shield is being shattered and the real faces are out,” he said.
The director had earlier revealed how they had done a lot of research for The Kashmir Files, taking testimonials from 700 Kashmiri Pandits as a part of it. They had spent almost four years to make the film, although the actual filming was wrapped up within a month.
