The Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer The Lady Killer was released on November 3, 2023, much to the shock of many. The trailer for the film was unveiled on October 29, 2023, just five days before its release. Moreover, the Ajay Bahl directorial is touted as an incomplete film that got a limited release and didn't even mint Rs. 1 lakh at the box office.

Director reveals incompleteness of the film

Now, the filmmaker has left a comment on the YouTube page of Tried and Refused Productions in which he broke the silence about what went wrong with the release of The Lady Killer. Ajay started by writing, "To confirm, yes, the movie is incomplete. 30 pages of the 117-page screenplay were never shot. A huge number of connecting scenes—Arjun and Bhumi’s entire romance, Bhumi’s dependence on alcohol, Ajrun’s sense of being trapped and losing everything and having to run from town, his sense of total despair—all these psychological beats are missing."

He further wrote, "So yes, it's no surprise that the film feels choppy and disjointed, and one finds it hard to connect with the characters. Now about the rumours floating out here, As director, it was extremely painful to shoot The Lady Killer, but absolutely not because of the actors. Arjun and Bhumi were sheer joys to work with. They gave their heart and soul to the film. The problem lied elsewhere, but that is another story."

The Lady Killer also stars Priyanka Bose, S. M. Zaheer, Ekavali Khanna, Denzil Smith, and Deepak Tokas in pivotal roles.

Transition to OTT

On November 3, 2023, the film opened in only 12 theatres across the country. As per reports, cost overruns, rainfall in Uttarakhand, and a lack of reshoots are blamed for the film's unfinished release. The production team had to resort to numerous edits and voiceovers to fix the problem. Now that reports have it, The Lady Killer is set to have its OTT premiere on Netflix.
