The Legend Of Hanuman S3's Sharad Kelkar on how dubbing gives him the space to unlearn and relearn - 'I take dubbing as a paid break' | Exclusive

Actor Sharad Kelkar has lent his voice to the character of Ravan in ‘The Legend of Hanuman 3’. The actor recently got in an exclusive conversation with OTTplay, where he shared his experience working in the show and also talked about how dubbing gives him the space to unlearn and relearn.

Sharad said, "I always say that it’s homework. I take it as paid homework or it’s a paid learning for me because on camera you’re learning something and you’re trying and you’re getting paid for it."

Adding to this he also reveals that as most people think, voice acting is not an easy job. “I think it’s more difficult because none of your body parts are seen and the expression is just through your voice. When you’re acting on camera, your eyes, your body, your lips, your whole face structure, and even your hair speak. But in voicing, nothing is there to support you. It’s just your voice so I think it’s much more difficult than the normal acting.”

Further talking about how on-screen acting helps him in voicing for a character and also helps him unwind and unlearn, the versatile actor said, “As an actor, it helps. People normally take workshops or three-month course or meditations, something to unwind and unlearn. This is my meditation, this is my unlearning and learning, this is my procedure. It gives me time and space and the thing that I should unlearn something that I’ve done and there’s something huge coming to it and different dimensions to it. There might be some role where it will help me portray.”
