The Raja Saab is one of the most talked-about films in recent years. Naturally, there was solid pre-release hype for this film directed by Maruthi. The trailer also caught the imagination of one and all, taking the hype to another level.
Though the film made Rs 54 crore on day one and has grossed over Rs 200 crore, as per the tracking portal Sacnilk, The Raja Saab has ended as a solid flop.

One of the main reasons for this is that the film was made on a budget of Rs 450 crore. A source close to the team revealed that The Raja Saab did not even break even in a single release area. The film has almost ended its theatrical run, leaving buyers and producers in heavy losses.
The overall recovery has been reported at around 55 percent, and that too only if GST collections from Andhra Pradesh are included. Without those numbers, the situation looks even more worrying.
The losses are clearly visible across key territories. In the Ceeded region of Andhra, recovery has stopped at a disappointing 45 percent, while North America has performed even worse, managing only about 30 to 33 percent recovery based on valuations.

These figures indicate that distributors and buyers have incurred significant financial damage, making The Raja Saab one of the biggest underperformers in recent times.
As if this were not enough, the makers opted for their own release in crucial markets like Nizam and North America, hoping to maximise returns. However, even with this approach, they failed to recover 50 percent of the valued price.

Adding to the troubles, the producer has openly stated that the OTT deal has not met expectations. Taking all this into consideration, the total losses for The Raja Saab are close to Rs 100 crore.
JioHotstar has bagged the digital rights to the film and will stream it in the second week of February 2026. The film will also be available on OTTplay Premium.
The failure of The Raja Saab has given the other Sankranthi biggie, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, an undue advantage at the box office, as it has grossed just over Rs 300 crore and is still going strong.
