Cadaver, starring Amala Paul in the lead, went on floors more than a couple of years ago. Directed by Anoop Panicker, the project was billed as the first movie to have a forensic surgeon as the protagonist. However, a film which had released last year and another one which is awaiting a theatrical release next year, have forensic surgeon playing the lead.
The project, which has Harish Uthaman, Athulya Ravi, Riythvika, Adith Arun, Munishkant and Ramesh Khanna playing important roles, is said to be based on a real incident which happened in Kerala. Produced by the actress herself, the film was in the news last year when there were speculations doing the rounds on its OTT release. Its editor San Lokesh had then taken to social media to clear the air of rumours and affirmed that the movie will have a theatrical release.
The makers have now come up with a spine-chilling first look from the movie on Amala's birthday. The actress is seen eating food from a lunch box in an autopsy room even as a dissected corpse lies behind her. Sporting a casual shirt and a trouser with a vibhooti on her forehead, she seems to be unaffected by the eerie ambience of the post-mortem room. Cadaver has music composed by Ranjin Raj, cinematography by Aravinnd Singh and screenplay by Abhilash Pillai.
Amala's last theatrical release was Aadai (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) which hit the screens more than two years ago. She was later seen in the Tamil anthology Kutty Story (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) and Telugu anthology Pitta Kathalu (streaming on Netflix). She has the long-pending Adho Andha Paravai Pola in Tamil and the highly anticipated Aadu Jeevitham in Malayalam.
