Though the shooting of Sathyaraj-starrer Theerpugal Virkkapadum was wrapped up a while ago, there hasn't been any update about the project for a while. Directed by Dheeran, the film is slated for a theatrical release on December 24, along with a slew of other Tamil projects. The team has now released its trailer through the social media handles of Vijay Sethupathi, Parthiban and Arun Vijay.
Sathyaraj plays a vigilante in the movie who takes on a few baddies after his dear ones are attacked brutally by them. It is said that the project is loosely based on the infamous Pollachi sexual assault case.
According to sources, Theerpugal Virkkapadum revolves around how a father avenges the culprits who destroyed his daughter's life. Arun Vijay tweeted, "Here's the trailer of #TheerpugalVirkkapadum My best wishes to #Sathyaraj sir, #YuvanMayilsamy and to the entire team (sic)."
Smruthi Venkat plays Sathyaraj's daughter in the film which has Madhusudhan and Harish Uthaman in the roles of antagonists. Mayilsamy's second son Yuvan plays a pivotal role in the movie.
Prasad SN has composed music for the project which has editing and cinematography by Noufal Abdullah and Garudavega Anji respectively. Dinesh Subbarayan has choreographed fight scenes for the movie.
Sathyaraj had Tughlaq Durbar and MGR Magan earlier this year which had direct releases on Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar respectively. His last theatrical release was Jeethu Joseph's Karthi-starrer Thambi (streaming on Netflix). His upcoming releases include Suriya-starrer Etharkkum Thunindhavan, Venkat Prabhu's Party and Vijay Antony's Khaki.
