Tamil cinema has often been at the forefront in the South in terms of churning out riveting entertainers. With great filmmakers handling various genres effortlessly coupled with star heroes who were always keen on keeping their fans and other audience hooked to their movies, the industry was never short of well-made popcorn entertainers. Guru Sishyan

The movie helmed by SP Muthuraman stars Rajinikanth and Prabhu in lead roles. It revolves around two people with contrasting characters joining hands to take on a few criminals. The right mix of action and comedy is the highlight of the film which was released in 1988. The chemistry between lead actors is another attraction of the project. Gautami, Radha Ravi, Seetha and Vinu Chakravarthy among others played notable characters in the superhit film which is regarded as one of the best entertainers of Kollywood. 

Nammavar

The campus drama helmed by KS Sethumadhavan was released in 1994. The Kamal Haasan-starrer revolves around a professor who sets out to bring various changes to a college. However, little did he realize that things aren't easy for him. How he faces several challenges from a dangerous student forms the rest of the story. Gautami, Nagesh, Senthil and Karan among others essayed crucial characters in the project which was a trendsetter. It is also one of the few Kollywood movies that touched upon student politics on campus. 

Veera

The movie marked the second collaboration of director Suresh Krissna and Rajinikanth after the mega success of Annamalai. The 1994-released film has Rajinikanth playing a guy who seeks justice for his family after he faces a series of unexpected incidents in his life. Meena and Roja played female leads in the action drama which has Vinu Chakravarthy, Janagaraj, Senthil and Ajay Rathnam essaying important characters. An adaptation of the Telugu hit Allari Mogudu, Veera was a success at the box office, though it couldn't match the actor-filmmaker duo's first outing. 

Kalaignan

The film revolves around the murder of a dancer who was associated with a popular pop singer. The former's sister decides to find out the mystery behind the killing. Will she be able to trace the murderer? Kamal Haasan played the lead in the movie helmed by GB Vijay. Ilaiyaraaja's music is one of the highlights of the project that was released in 1993. Nasser, Bindiya and Sivaranjani among others played significant roles in the movie.
