The shooting of Dhanush-starrer Thiruchitrambalam was wrapped up a few months ago. The movie directed by Mithran Jawahar marks the reunion of the actor and director after Uthama Puthiran (streaming on MX Player and YouTube) which was released in 2010. Nithya Menen, Raashi Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar play female leads in the film which has been produced by Sun Pictures.
Anirudh is composing music for the project; the film brings back the popular DnA (Dhanush and Anirudh) combination after Thanga Magan (streaming on Zee5) which released in 2015.
According to a trustable source, Thiruchitrambalam will be released in theatres on July 1. An official update on the same is expected soon. The producer, whose last outing was Etharkkum Thunindhavan, is now looking forward to the production house' next film, Beast, which is likely to release on April 13.
The team is yet to come up with the first look and other updates on the movie. Billed as a full-fledged entertainer, the project is the fourth collaboration between Dhanush and Mithran. The director's last film was Mathil which had a direct release on Zee5 last year.
Om Prakash and Prasanna GK have handled the movie's cinematography and editing respectively. Prakash Raj and Bharathiraja play pivotal roles in the film which has Vivek on board as lyricist for songs. From the beginning, the makers have been tight-lipped about the project's shooting.
A video featuring Dhanush and Nithya Menen dancing to a song in the film got leaked a few months ago, though. Thiruchitrambalam will be Dhanush's theatrical release after more than a year. Karnan was his last movie which was released in theatres. Later, three films of his had direct OTT releases, including Maaran, which dropped on Disney+ Hotstar a week ago.
