Stars should do at least 1-2 films a year for the betterment of the industry – this is something one often hears in Kannada film circles. Especially in recent times, given that Rocking Star Yash has not done a film since 2022’s KGF: Chapter 2, as also Kiccha Sudeep, who was last seen in Vikrant Rona, Dhruva Sarja (2019’s Pogaru). While Challenging Star Darshan has now actively begun working to ensure he has 2 releases in a year, one person who has consistently strived to achieve this goal has been Century Star Shivarajkumar.

The actor, who had his last release in October with Ghost, is currently prepping for his next, Karataka Damanaka, which will be in theatres on March 8. There will be at least one or two more this year, considering that he is giving finishing touches to his home production Bhairathi Ranagal, which is the prequel and sequel to his character from director Narthan’s Mufti, as well as composer Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, 45.\

Once he is done with these two films, Shivarajkumar will join the set of Rohit Padaki’s 2-part gangster flick Uttarakaanda, which has Daali Dhananjaya in the lead. Uttarakaanda also marks the comeback of Ramya to Kannada cinema. Also on his list of films to start soon are Inspector Vikram Returns, directed by Laki Gopal, Ravi Arasu’s RDX, which has been pending since 2020 and a film with Dinakar Thoogudeepa, the dates for which Shivarajkumar is yet to figure out.

Thereafter, he says, there is a film with director Pavan Wadeyar, which is their first together. At some point amid all this flurry of activity, the actor might also squeeze in the Ghost sequel or the Dalavaayi Muddanna spin off with MG Srinivas, depending on which script gets ready. Shivarajkumar also has a project with Hemanth M Rao coming up, which is also only at scripting stage currently.

Earlier birthday announcements include films with directors Lohith M,Tejasvi Nag, Kotresh Chapparadahalli and Karthik Adwaith, among others. There’s also a potential Tagaru sequel, even though Suri has been categoric that he is not a fan of revisiting subjects and exploring franchises.
