A couple of weeks ago, filmmaker Pavan Wadeyar had announced his next production venture, which will be yet another film with Dollu maker Sagar Puranik. At the time, OTTplay had asked Pavan about his own directorial plans and he said that something was in the works, which he’d announce when the time’s right. Well, his leading man has jumped the gun and let news slip. Turns out, Pavan is making a film with Shivarajkumar in the lead, which is their first collaboration.
During a recent promotional interview for his upcoming film Karataka Damanaka, when asked about his upcoming slate, Shivarajkumar, who is one of the busiest actors in Kannada cinema, had listed a few that had been announced for his birthday, with the notable addition of a film with Pavan, which the actor reckons will likely take off in 2025, as he’s got a few others lined up for the year.
When we reached out to Pavan, he confirmed the development and said that script work on this project was still ongoing and that he could comment anything further only after its completion. Pavan Wadeyar has made not one, but two films with the late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar – Ranavikrama and Natasaarvabhowma - and this is his first with Shivarajkumar. The as-yet-untitled film with the Hattrick Hero will be Pavan’s 7th in Kannada and 9th directorial overall, including the Telugu remake of Govindaya Namaha and his upcoming Hindi film.
The filmmaker is currently prepping for the release of his debut Hindi film, Awasthi vs Awasthi, featuring Bengali star Parambrata Chatterjee in the lead. The film has the actor in the role of an honest lawyer, who files a case against himself. Pavan is looking at releasing the film sometime in March or April, but has not zeroed in on a date yet.
