Mimi Chakraborty plays a cop for the first time in the film Raktabeej. This is her third film with Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy, starting with Posto in 2016. Mimi plays the SP of Burdwan, Sanjukta Mitra, in the film, which is based on the true story of Khagragarh Blast.
In a recent interview, Mimi said she now chooses those roles that she had not tried before. She wants to experiment on the screen. Regarding Raktabeej, she said the director told her that her normal behavior was good enough for the role.
Mimi is busy with her film’s promotion, as well as her duty as the MP. From her hometown in Jalpaiguri to the Parliament House via Tollywood – the journey is itself like a film story. But the journey was not easy. Mimi said, “Our society is misogynist and patriarchal. A girl like me who creates her path without taking help from a man will see obstacles at every step.” It is not like that she has no problem in her life just because she is an MP.
Mimi is not seen at many Tollywood parties these days. She rather hang out with her friends at her place. Why such a decision? The actress said that she felt she didn't have any connection to those people at the parties. “I feel suffocated. It is better to spend time with my close ones,” she added.
Mimi recently turned down the offers of Bigg Boss Season 16 and Khatron Ke Khiladi. She auditioned for Yash Daasguptaa’s Hindi debut Yaariaan 2 but then withdrew herself. Lots of speculations arose then and Mimi opened her mouth regarding that. She stated that it is not necessary to work in any Hindi film that is offered. Mimi clearly said, “I do not want to work on any project where I don't have the lead role. That will be dishonoring those who gave me lead roles in Bengali.” Yaariaan 2 will be released on October 20.
