Balu Varghese and Lukman Avaran’s acclaimed film Operation Java has completed three years of theatrical release. Despite the fact that Covid-19-related fear may have prevented Tharun Moorthy's debut film from drawing large crowds to theatres, the movie received overwhelmingly positive reviews after its OTT and television premieres.

The film’s narrative and subplots were excellent at keeping viewers interested, even in the absence of major stars in the cast ensemble. Operation Java focuses on two engineering graduates named Antony George and Vinay Dasan assisting a cyber cell police station in Cochin in investigating varied cases during a period of a year and a half.

Here are some reasons why one must rewatch this 2021 crime drama, which is streaming on Zee5.

Intriguing narrative

The screenplay for Operation Java has been penned by the director himself. Two youngsters, Antony George and Vinay Dasan, as temporary members of the cyber cell, use their skills to assist the team in solving varied cases. Despite the initial promise from officers to hire them as regular employees, they are ultimately not recruited on a permanent basis.

Subtle performances

It was noted that Balu Varghese and Lukman Avaran gave nuanced performances that gave their characters just the right amount of emotion. Prasanth Alexander's act as Senior CPO Basheer received positive reviews as well. With their succinct yet impactful performances, the supporting cast further enhanced the screenplay.

Ideal balance of all elements

The experience of watching this movie was heightened by Tharun Moorthy's ability to balance all the elements, including humour, suspense, and poignant moments. Rather than being centred on a single crime, the director chose to use multiple subplots to explore a wide range of cases, including theft, murder, job fraud, and film piracy.

Portrayal of flaws in establishments

The film portrays the difficulties faced by temporary or apprentice workers who put in a lot of effort but do not receive adequate compensation or recognition for it. The darker side of cybercrime is also examined in the movie.
