Mohanlal-starrer Thudarum is now out on streaming! The Tharun Moorthy directorial, which is Mohanlal’s second blockbuster of the year after the Lucifer sequel Empuraan, has made its much-awaited OTT premiere on JioHotstar on May 30, 2025. Here’s everything you need to know about Mohanlal-Tharun Moorthy’s revenge thriller and why you should watch it on OTT.
Mohanlal-led Thudarum, which hit theatres on Apr 25, 2025, landed on OTT after a month of its theatrical release. The latest Malayalam film is available for streaming on JioHotstar in five languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu with English subtitles.
Mohanlal's first release of the year was Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, which also raked in impressive numbers despite running into controversies.
Mohanlal stars as Benz Shanmugham in this thriller, directed by Tharun Moorthy after the National Award-winning Saudi Vellakka. Benz, a taxi driver, along with his wife Lalitha (Shobana), and their two children, leads a perfect family life in the small town of Ranni in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta. But when his beloved ambassador car is seized by cops who refuse to return it to him, it leads to a series of unfortunate events that force Benz to go after those who have wronged his family. Prakash Varma is the vile George Sir, who plots the cunning crime, while Binu Pappu as SI Benny and Farhaan Faasil as CPO Sudheesh become part of his scheme.
As the Season star sets out to take revenge, Thudarum emerges to be a gripping thriller, which will keep you hooked to the screen. What starts off as an endearing family tale soon heads to a pulsating finish, as Thudarum explores themes of honour killing, a common man's fight for justice, the brute force of the police force and more. KR Sunil’s script and the stellar performances, especially by Mohanlal and Prakash Varma, ensure that Thudarum remains an engrossing watch from start to finish.
Fans of Malayalam cinema would also be delighted to see Mohanlal-Shobana reunite on screen. The song, Kanmanipoove, by MG Sreekumar, is a beautiful track that is enhanced by the iconic couple’s onscreen chemistry.
