In a recent interview with the Kaumudy Movies, Maniyanpilla Raju spoke about his next project, which will have Mohanlal in the lead and will be directed by Krishand, who has helmed the award-winning Aavasavyuham.
“My next project is a film with Mohanlal that will be directed by Krishand. The age group of the cinema-viewing public would be from 18-48 and they really like Krishand,” said Maniyanpilla Raju.
Accepting how the audience and their preferences have changed, the senior actor spoke about working with new filmmakers.
“Mohanlal is also now working with new-age directors. The points of view of the younger generation are much advanced. A subject that I like may not find acceptance among the youngsters and vice versa. The first round of discussions of the movie is over,” he added.
Maniyanpilla Raju has acted along with Mohanlal in several movies, especially in the late 80s and 90s such as Hello My Dear Wrong Number and Vellanakalude Nadu. Notably, Maniyanpilla Raju has also backed both of these popular films. Another Mohanlal-starrer Chotta Mumbai, which Maniyanpilla Raju co-produced, is now to re-release in cinemas on May 21, 2025.
Krishand’s Aavasavyuham: The Arbit Documentation of An Amphibian Hunt, which won the Kerala State Award for the Best Film, is now available for streaming on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium. Rahul Rajagopal leads this film, which is also written by Krishand.
Another notable film of Krishand is Purusha Pretham, featuring Alexander Prasanth, Darshana Rajendran, and Jagadish in key roles.
