Thug Life, starring actor-producer Kamal Haasan in the lead role, along with a bunch of other stars, is set to hit theatres in a few weeks. The team is on full throttle to promote the film. Directed by Mani Ratnam, Thug Life’s post-theatrical streaming rights have been bagged by Netflix. In a recent press conference for the film, Kamal Haasan talked about the OTT release and when one can expect the film to stream.

Headlined by Kamal Haasan, Thug Life is an upcoming Tamil film which marks the reunion of the Papanasam actor with celebrated filmmaker Mani Ratnam. The film is slated for a theatrical release on June 5.

Ahead of the release, the team of Thug Life are on a tour to promote their film. Their recent pitstop was in Mumbai, where Kamal Haasan addressed the local media. The Gunaa actor confirmed that there will be an eight-week gap between Thug Life’s theatrical release and OTT premiere.

“It is not even an experiment. It is a pragmatic thing to do, and I am glad the OTT agreed. It was not a negotiation but a plan, which may be followed by others. It will make the industry healthy and we are glad to be the first ones there,” Kamal Haasan said. Netflix has bagged the streaming rights.

A gangster action drama, which will see the reunion of Kamal Haasan with the Roja filmmaker after their iconic 1987 film Nayakan, Thug Life has music by AR Rahman. The star ensemble includes Silambarasan, Trisha, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Abhirami, Nasser, Vaiyapuri, Chinni Jayanth, Vadivukkarasi, Tanikella Bharni and others. Thug Life is produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies.
