Thug Life plot revealed: Kamal Haasan to seek his revenge in Mani Ratnam’s film?

Thug Life is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated Tamil films this year. With just a few days away from the release, the makers are leaving no stone unturned to promote the film. Recently, the audio launch event was also conducted, with fans appreciating AR Rahman's score and songs for the Mani Ratnam-Kamal Haasan film.

While Thug Life is touted to be a gangster actioner and invariably reminding each one of us about the iconic film Nayakan, in which Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan last collaborated, the plot of the upcoming film has been doing the rounds on social media. Thug Life plot: Is this the story of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s film?

Featuring an ensemble star cast, including Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, Trisha, and many more, Thug Life is a hugely anticipated film from Tamil cinema. Scheduled to release on June 5, the makers of the film have been all out there to promote the film. It marks the reunion of Papanasam actor and Mani Ratnam after 38 years since the release of the iconic 1987 film Nayakan.

Now, as per some social media posts, the plot of Thug Life has been revealed. It is said that the film will be set in the world of crime, with Kamal Haasan playing a mafia kingpin Sakthivel. When he, along with his brother, rescues a young boy named Amaran (to be played by Simbu) from a police shootout, they raise him as their own. But everything changes years later, when an assassination attempt is made on Sakthivel and all fingers point to the grown-up Amaran as Sakthivel begins to seek his revenge. Thug Life marks the first time the Vaanam actor is working with Kamal Haasan.

The post-theatrical streaming rights of Thug Life have been bagged by Netflix. The film will stream after eight weeks of theatrical release. Produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies, the film has music by AR Rahman who has worked with Mani Ratnam in films like Roja and Dil Se. It also features Joju George, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Abhirami and others.
