Thug Life, the much-anticipated Tamil film has finally hit theatres. Headlined by Kamal Haasan, and directed by Mani Ratnam, the gangster action drama marks the reunion of powerhouses of talent after 38 long years. Thug Life Twitter review:

The star-studded ensemble film Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam is now out. It is running in cinemas near you. The film features Kamal Haasan as Ranganayaka Sakthivel who is a mafia kingpin and the relationship with his adopted son Amaran played by Simbu. The film, which was already courted in much controversy, thanks to Kamal Haasan’s remarks on Kannada language, has been the subject on social media discussion with those who watched pouring in the reviews.

Thug Life seems to not have convinced the audience, as many who have watched the film have been calling out the film for being a disappointment. Thug Life did not find a release in Karnataka state on June 5, after Kamal Haasan refused to apologise to pro-Kannada outfits over his remarks that the language is born out of Tamil. With the Karnataka Film Chamber posing a ban on the film, the actor said that he will withhold the release in the state for some time.

Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of Thug Life. The ensemble star cast includes Kamal Haasan, Simbu, Trisha, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nasser and others. AR Rahman has scored music for the film. Thug Life is produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies jointly.
