A film that is currently one of the most discussed Marvel Cinematic Universe projects is Thunderbolts, which is set to go into production in spring. The movie, part of Phase Five of the MCU, has been the talk of the town for a while now due to its introduction of a fresh concept to the live-action wing of the comics. However, the highly anticipated film suffered a massive blow when not one but two major actors recently quit the project. Steven Yeun and Ayo Edebiri have opted out, and reports now discuss the reasons for their exits.

Steven Yeun, originally set to play Sentry in Thunderbolts, quit the film a couple of weeks ago, taking everyone by surprise. Adding to the shock, a few days ago, it was revealed that Ayo Edebiri, cast in a mysterious role, also called it quits. Speculations arose, suggesting the weak script as the real reason behind their exits. New reports, however, refute this claim, revealing that the script's quality is not to blame for the departure of the two stars.

According to a Screenant report, the Thunderbolts script's quality is not the cause of Steven Yeun and Ayo Edebiri's exits. Both actors left the movie due to scheduling conflicts, possibly with other projects, resulting in their departure from the Marvel project. The Hollywood strikes that put things on hold and created chaos in the schedules of many involved in various projects may have contributed to this.

The production of the movie, however, will not suffer, as the Thunderbolts makers have already found replacements. After Steven Yeun's exit, the studio struggled to find a Sentry replacement and finally landed on Lewis Pullman. As for Ayo Edebiri, the actor has been replaced by Geraldine Viswanathan. Although not officially confirmed, reports strongly suggest these replacements.

Thunderbolts is set to release on July 25, 2025, starring Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Harrison Ford, Wyatt Russell, Sebastian Stan, Hannah John-Kamen, and an ensemble cast. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else in the world of streaming and films.
