With the release of Ajith's Thunivu just a few days away, an unexpected news has shocked fans of the star and other movie buffs. The film helmed by H Vinoth is gearing up for a huge release in many countries on January 11.

The advance ticket booking began in a few locations like the US, UK, France and Sri Lanka a few days ago. Saudi Arabia was another country which opened reservations for the heist drama. But it looks like the movie's release there is likely to face an issue.

It is heard that Thunivu might be banned in the country owing to controversial content in it. According to sources, the project has portions which disrespects a religion and a gender community. The booking for the heist drama has been paused now, and a few fans have taken to social media to inquire about the issue with the makers.

It has to be seen if makers would oblige to the censor rules of Saudi. The team's previous flick, Valimai, grossed a decent collection from the territory. Movie buffs are now looking forward to knowing the final fate of the film there. However, a few opine that a ban in Saudi will not affect the box office potential to a big extent.

Kerala and Karnataka are other places where the movie's bookings have opened today. The booking of the film's Telugu version, Tegimpu, is expected to begin soon. The allotment for the project's early morning shows in Tamil Nadu is being discussed by exhibitors and distributors.

Thunivu will have a box office clash with Vijay's Varisu which is also releasing on the same day. Both the films will have simultaneous release in Telugu, too.
