The mother of all box office clashes is back in Kollywood! Movies of Ajith and Vijay are gearing up for huge release on January 11 across the world. Unlike the last time they clashed with each other nine years ago, this time their films, Thunivu and Varisu, are releasing in Telugu versions as well.

The movies were supposed to hit the screens on January 12 initially, but after several twists and turns, makers decided to fix the release date as January 11. The preponement of the two projects by a day seem to have slightly affected the advance bookings in a few locations overseas.

All eyes were on the exhibitors as movie buffs have been curious on how shows would be allotted in Tamil Nadu. There was news that both Thunivu and Varisu would not have early morning shows to avoid unnecessary fan fights. But it looks like they have finally come up with a solution.

It has been unanimously decided that the Ajith-starrer will be screened from as early as 1 am across Tamil Nadu, while the Vijay-starrer will begin from 4 am. Exhibitors hope that this would solve fan wars to an extent.

Trade pundits have started guessing the box office numbers both the films are going to bring to the table during the Pongal festival. Fans of Ajith and Vijay have been locking horns on social media ever since it was officially announced that the clash couldn't be averted.

Both their previous movies failed to meet the humongous expectations, and hence, fans have pinned high hopes on Thunivu and Varisu, though their trailer opened to average response.
