If the Kannada films that came out in the first half of the year proved disappointing and, hence, stopped you from venturing out to theatres thereafter, let us assure you that in the last couple of months, there have been a few films that deserved big-screen love. If you missed that opportunity, no worries, these deserving films have been picked up by popular OTT platforms and you can watch them in the comfort of your home. Here are the recent films that we think you should absolutely watch.

Kousalya Supraja Rama

Darling Krishna’s dismal run at the box office (barring his own Love Mocktail 1 & 2) came to an end with director Shashank’s Kousalya Supraja, a love story that also explored the harm that male chauvinism unleashes. The film also stars Brinda Acharya, Milana Nagaraj, Nagabhushan, Sudha Belawadi and Rangayana Raghu in pivotal roles.

Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare

Debutant director Nithin Krishnamurthy’s campus comedy set in an all-boys hostel won over audiences with its liberal dose of humour. The laughs apart, the film was also a nostalgia trip for audiences who’ve lived in college hostels. The film has a cast of newcomers, with actors like Rishab Shetty, Diganth, Shine Shetty, Diganth, Pawan Kumar and Ramya, among others, chipping in with cameos.

Aachar & Co

One of the last films greenlit by late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar for his home banner, Aachar & Co marked the directorial debut of actress Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy. Based on a script that Sindhu co-wrote with standup comedian Kanan Gill, Aachar & Co told a story about a Bengaluru family in the 60s, a time when gender roles began changing with women taking an active interest in education and contributing to the household with paying jobs.
