Tovino Thomas to team up with Driving License director Lal Jr for a film next year

Minnal Murali actor Tovino Thomas and Driving License director Jean Paul Lal aka Lal Jr are all set to team up for a film next year. The news was let out by the film’s cinematographer Alby, who had earlier cranked the camera for Tovino’s Kaanekkaane, through his social media page recently.

This will be the first time Lal Jr and the actor will be collaborating. Lal Jr, who had most recently co-directing Tsunami with his father Lal, had previously helmed the superhit Driving License, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

Tovino, meanwhile, is currently shooting for Thallumala. The movie, directed by Khalid Rahman, has the actor playing the role of a Malabar-based youth from his college days to his 30s. The film, which has North Kerala and the UAE as its main locations, has Kalyani Priyadarshan as its female lead.

The actor is next set to join the team of actor-turned-director Manu G Raghav’s Vaashi, which has National Award-winner Keerthy Suresh as its female lead. The film is produced by Revathy Kalamandir and is set to go on floors this month.

After Vaashi, the actor will begin work on Jithin Lal’s Ajayante Randaamoshanam, which is a big budget period entertainer that will be released in five languages. The film has Tovino playing a triple role and has portions set in the 1900s, 1950s and 1990s. Tovino plays three characters – Maniyan, Kunjikelu and Ajayan in the movie, which will go on floors by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, the actor is eagerly awaiting the release of Basil Joseph’s Minnal Murali, which is set to drop on Netflix on December 24. The film has him playing a superhero. Tovino also has director Vineeth Kumar’s mystery drama set for release that also has Darshana Rajendran as part of the cast.
