Malayalam star Tovino Thomas is overjoyed after winning the Best Actor award at a film festival for his outstanding performance in Adrishya Jalakangal . He released a statement expressing gratitude to the film's director and producer for entrusting him with this role.
"It's great to feel recognized. Extremely honoured and proud to have won the Best Actor award at the Fantasporto International Film Festival in Portugal for 'Adrishya Jaalakangal.' Being so far from home and still receiving such a warm welcome and acknowledgment for the work is truly remarkable. 'Adrishya Jaalakangal' has been a wonderful chapter! I want to thank and congratulate everyone who was part of the movie, especially my director and producers for granting me this role. I wish the movie continued success. Huge thanks and love to everyone reading this. Stay blessed," he said.

Adrishya Jalakangal is an anti-war movie narrating the story of a protagonist who initially lacks agency in society. However, following an accident, he acquires special powers that enable him to see the dead. The deceased reveals a big secret about the impending destruction of the country.
In an attempt to avert the catastrophe with his limited powers, the protagonist in Adrishya Jalakangal takes centre stage.
Written and directed by Dr. Biju, the film premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights International Film Festival (TBNIFF) before its theatrical release last November. Currently, the film is available for streaming on Netflix.
In the meantime, Tovino was last seen in the investigation thriller Anweshippin Kandethum. Directed by Darwin Kuriakose, the film emerged as one of the big Malayalam hits so far this year, with its worldwide collection pegged at over Rs 40 crore against the production cost of Rs 8 crore.
The film also struck a chord with critics, garnering mostly favourable reviews. The film last week made its streaming debut on Netflix.
Tovino is also now busy shooting for L2: Empuraan. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, this is a sequal to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer.
