Naveen Shankar-led Kshetrapathi promises to be a hard-hitting social drama, wherein the writer-director attempts to tackle the issues faced by farmers in Northern Karnataka. The teaser of the film, which was released a couple of weeks ago, reveals how the character played by Naveen goes through many trials and tribulations to stand up for what's right. The protagonist's crusades against the prevailing corruption and other evils, and how he leads the masses in a social revolution, form the crux of the story.

The film also stars Archana Jois, Achyutkumar, Rahul Ainapur, Krishna Hebbale, Shailashree Urs, Natya Ranga and others with Ravi Basrur of KGF 2 and Salaar fame scoring the music. Shrikant Katagi has written and directed the film which is set to release in theatres on August 18.

But before the release, the team announced that the audiences will get another glimpse of the film in the form of the trailer. The maiden trailer of Kshetrapathi will be out on August 10 at 4:05 pm.

Naveen Shankar, who makes a return as a 'solo hero' following a couple of ensemble films, will look to keep his good run going and secure a commercial hit through Kshetrapathi. It is evident that the actor has gone through a physical transformation to fit the bill and has also striven hard to deliver a compelling performance that the audiences now expect from him. Naveen's portrayal of the cold-blooded antagonist in Gurudev Hoysala was widely appreciated and so was his role of Ranjit in the multistarrer Hondisi Bareyiri.

Kshetrapathi, however, will clash at the box office with Sree Ganesh Parashuram's Baang, which stars Shanvi Srivastava and Raghu Dixit. Baang is billed as an actioner that also boasts a compelling storyline. So, it would be interesting to see how the two distinctly different films - Kshetrapathi and Baang - will fare in this upcoming box office face-off. More updates to follow.
