Some of the classic films starring Mohanlal and Mammootty, two of the industry's biggest stars, have been re-released in Malayalam cinema. Most of them have had a decent theatrical run as well. In the meantime, there are rumours that more movies will return to theatres, much to the excitement of film enthusiasts.

The list of films that are likely to have a theatrical release again this year includes Malayalam's popular multi-starrer, Twenty Twenty, Mohanlal's Ravanaprabhu, and Kunchacko Boban's romantic comedy drama, Priyam.
When Malayalis hear the word "multi-starrer," Twenty Twenty is the first movie that springs to their minds. Nearly all of the top actors in Malayalam cinema are part of the ensemble cast, which also includes the film's superstars, Mammootty and Mohanlal. The film was a box office hit and never had a dull moment in terms of narrative or performances.
Ravanaprabhu is available on Amazon Prime Video, while Twenty Twenty and Priyam are available on Sun NXT and OTTplay Premium. Mohanlal's Thenmavin Kombath is also expected to have a theatrical premiere again this year.
Malayalam re-releases in the first half of 2025
Chotta Mumbai, Mohanlal's well-liked action film, was re-released this year. Fans celebrated the movie's best moments on the big screen during its triumphant run in theatres. The movie made over Rs 45 lakh at the box office on the second weekend of re-release, according to sources.

According to reports, Hy Studioz is restoring the film in 4K following their most recent projects, Chotta Mumbai and Devadoothan. For the first time, a Suresh Gopi movie is being re-released.
