It has been nine years since the Breaking Dawn – Part 2 ushered the end of the much loved Twilight film saga. But it seems fans are not the only ones who still can’t get enough of Stephenie Meyer’s books coming alive on screen. Recently, two of the film's stars, Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene, hinted that they would be on board for another movie set in the Twilight universe, this time based on 2020’s Midnight Sun.
During an appearance at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, the stars talked in length about the popular movie franchise. Lutz was the first to reveal his interest in reigniting the franchise, talking about his fondness for Midnight Sun and how he would love to be part of a film based on the book. He also added that his character of Emmet had some very witty lines in the book as well. His opinions were echoed by his co-star Greene, who played Alice in the franchise.
Lutz also responded to a fan question about whether his favourite Meyer book had also been his favourite movie adaptation. He answered that although Breaking Dawn had been his favourite, Midnight Sun overtook it as soon as it got published.
Although the two were joined by Jackson Rathbone in the expo, he was more reticent than his fellow co-stars. Rathbone did however joke that he was not able to get opportunities for family friendly movies as most people still viewed him as his strange character from the film series, Jasper.
Meyer published Midnight Sun in 2020, which told the story of Twilight Edward Cullen’s perspective rather than Bella’s. At present, there are no plans to develop the novel into a film.
