Manish Malhotra's fashion designer journey

Manish Malhotra revealed that he never studied fashion design. He said that before exploring the fashion design world, he was a model. He said that he was born interested in movies. At the age of 6, he would dance to every song, have an interest in every cloth. "I would tell my mother that this blouse does not match and she would be like, 'what's up with him?' My mother encouraged me to love films. I think movies influenced me," he said. 

The ace designer also said that during his growing-up years in the 1970s, he knew every film and every costume. "When I came to college, I was, of course, a very bad student, and then I started modelling and working in a boutique. There was no course for men in the 1980s. So I said, 'No, I want to get into movies and want to change the way films look.' I was determined I would only design for movies, and I would always be a costume designer and now it's 35 years and counting," Manish said.

Sonakshi Sinha on her acting journey

Sonakshi Sinha said that she never wanted to become an actress. She did fashion design for 3 years. The actress said, "Even when I was growing up, I was an overweight child. Everyone around me would just assume I would grow up to be an actress but I was not interested. I had not grown up watching films. So I was like, 'I don't want to do this. I will do something else so I studied fashion and then when it happened, I felt so comfortable like I was meant to be here."

Sonakshi Sinha's 'instant click' with husband Zaheer Iqbal

Sonakshi Sinha also discussed her marriage to Zaheer Iqbal in the episode. She said that she had an 'instant click' with Zaheer and realised that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. 

She said, "When I saw him, it was an instant click. I just knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this guy. In a month, I told him I’m going to marry you only, and then seven years later, we did get married." 

Manish Malhotra on not working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali

When Kajol said Manish has worked with everyone except filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and considering his costumes as opulent as his films, she asked why he has not worked with him. The designer said that he has done only one film, and that was Khamoshi: The Musical and after that they have never worked together. 

Manish shared, "Once somebody asked him that, I think he always thought I was very friendly with Karan Johar and Adi in that group of things. So I was like, 'Sanjay, I am a professional and I can work with so many different actors.' So, sometimes somethings just don't happen, and then you just make your own path." 

Sonakshi Sinha on her choices of films

Kajol said that Sonakshi has moved from commercial films like Rowdy Rathore to Dahaad and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi, and asked whether it was a conscious change. The actress said, "It was quite organic and it also came from the fact that I am a Gemini and I get bored very quickly (laughs). I have done so many masala, pot-boilers where I was doing the song and dance and I did that for a very long period of time and then I got hungry. I wanted to explore what's in store so I started experimenting and taking up roles that were way more challenging, which showed me in a very different light as an actor as well." She added that she started taking up different roles and was just enjoying herself.

Twinkle mentioned that veteran actress Rekha comes to Manish's parties and he showcases her beautifully to the world, and because of him, everyone gets to see her. When asked to mention something he has learned from Rekha, Manish said that he has learned self-love from her.
