Udhayanidhi Stalin has been a successful producer and distributor before he took a plunge into acting and full-time politics. He recently announced that Mari Selvaraj's Maamannan will be his last film as an actor. As the MLA of Chepauk constituency in Chennai, he informed that his plan is to devote entire time to politics.

In a recent chat with Thanthi television channel, he was asked about the box office performance of recent big ticket flicks in Tamil which he distributed in Tamil Nadu. Rajinikanth's Annaatthe, Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan, Prabhas' Radhe Shyam, Vijay's Beast and Nayanthara-VijaySethupathi-Samantha's Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal are biggies which he had bagged theatrical rights for.

As movie buffs and fans of top stars in Kollywood continue to argue on the box office verdict of these movies on social media, Udhayanidhi's opinion seems to have put an end to all rumours and unnecessary fights. He said that Annaatthe and Etharkkum Thunindhavan were hits while Beast was a super hit.

Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, he said, ended up as a super hit despite critics giving mixed reviews. He said, "The movie might have opened to okayish reviews, but the presence of Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha made it a successful venture. It has become the highest grosser in Vijay Sethupathi's career." However, Udhay was quick to add that Radhe Shyam was a flop venture for his company Red Giant Movies.

Sivakarthikeyan's Don, which released on Friday, is the latest movie which Udhay has presented in Tamil Nadu. Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram is the next big ticket Kollywood movie which Udhay has acquired recently.

With him announcing the decision to quit acting, it has to be seen if he will bid adieu to his production-distribution company, too. He made his acting debut a decade ago with the hit film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi.
