Veteran singer Udit Narayan recently hit the headlines for the wrong reasons. A video of Narayan kissing his female fans at his concert went viral on social media. Netizens were enraged and slammed the senior musician for his behavior. However, the 69-year-old defended his act by calling himself 'decent' after the video sparked controversy on social media. In a new interview, the veteran singer admitted that he was not ashamed or embarrassed about the whole incident.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Udit Narayan said people from all over the world come in large numbers for his concert. The tickets for his shows are sold months in advance. "There is a deep pure and unbreakable bond between my fans and I. What you saw in the so-called scandalous video was a manifestation of the love between my fans and I. They love me. I love them back even more," he said.
When asked if he was ashamed or embarrassed about the incident, the senior singer mentioned, "No, not at all! Why should I be? It is not something sleazy or secret. It is there in the public domain. My heart is pure. If some people want to see something dirty in my act of pure affection, then I feel sorry for them."
The veteran singer further mentioned that he finds something suspicious about the entire controversy. "Why did the video suddenly appear, and that too from a concert from some months ago in the US or Canada?" he wondered. Narayan also shared a message for 'mischief mongers' and it was 'the harder you try to pull me down, the higher I will rise'.
